Terminology:

What is Myopia?
Also known as Short Sightedness. This is caused by the eye being too long, and light is focussed at a point in front of the retina. It is corrected with minus lenses.

What is Hypermetropia?
Also known as Long Sightedness. This is caused by the eye being too short, and light is focussed at a point behind the retina. It is corrected with plus lenses.

What is Astigmatism?
This can be caused by distortion of the eyes’ surfaces, making them similar to a rugby ball in shape. It is corrected with toric lenses.

What is Presbyopia?
As we get older it can become more difficult to focus near objects, for instance reading. This can lead to the need for Reading glasses, Bifocals or Varifocal lenses.
